Ms. Nancy Recommends

Click here (to find out how i survived seventh grade) by Denise Vega

Erin Swift has big feet and only one real friend. How will she survive the seventh grade at a new school with her friend, Jilly, not in any of her classes? Erin starts school by punching a girl in the nose and being sent to the principal's office. Just when her love and talent for computers start to help her make friends in the computer club, the most horrible thing happens--her personal blog ends up posted on the school's intranet! The whole school knows her deep, dark secrets! I know I wouldn't have wanted my classmates to know all my most intimate, personal thoughts, so I really felt bad for Erin. Read Click here to find out just how she survives!

Teen Tech Week 2007 is here!

We have some great programs scheduled for this week to celebrate the first Teen Tech Week (TTW). Our first program was yesterday--we showed the movie, I-Robot, starring Will Smith. It is based on a novel by Isaac Asimov.

Here are the other TTW programs:
Tuesday, March 6, from 3-4 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.: Tech Talk
Wednesday, March 7, from 3:30-5:30 p.m.: Afternoon Cafe with Techie Jeopardy! Come enjoy the usual snacks and drinks and show your tech knowledge.
Thursday, March 8, from 3-4 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.: Tips & Tricks in MS Word
Friday, March 9, from 3-4 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.: MySpace in Our Space!

The programs on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday require registration to guarantee a space. Call the Reference Desk at (843) 559-1945 or stop by the desk to register. Space is limited to eight teens in each program held in our computer lab and will be filled on a first come, first served basis if registration is not full. Teens must have Internet access on their library cards to participate in programs in our computer lab.

A raffle ticket into a special prize drawing on Friday at the end of TTW will be given to every teen who comes to a TTW program. Come to all of them for the best chance to win a 1GB flash drive or one of two solar powered calculators!
